Mission & Vision of Sophia Fellowship Counseling

Providing and teaching biblical counseling with a focus on Christ-centered living and a contemplative nature to be aware and one with the Holy Spirit.

Developing counselors and leaders takes immense pressure off the pastor to be both pastor and counselor (Exodus 18:9-27). It also brings new expertise to the church ministry to help those with trauma, grief, loss, anxiety, and depression which prevents discipleship from advancing.

Providing biblical counseling and developing biblical counselors in war torn and developing countries.

Grateful to Dr. John Woodward for your mentorship and the work of Grace Fellowship International.

Grateful to Contemplative Outreach to your dedication to sharing gifts such as Lectio Divina and Centering Prayer with the world regardless of background.

Biblical counselilng for churches

Church Leadership Discussion.

Meet for approximately one hour to discuss the phases of counseling and discipleship. See if there is something your church can be doing for the emotional and spiritual growth of your church family.

Contact us and set up a meeting. Let’s discuss the four phases of counseling/discipleship and how your church can serve the body well:

Discussion points:

  • Four phases of counseling and discipleship; Redemption, Identification, Liberation, Dedication
  • What is Biblical Counseling?
  • How is it different than Discipleship?
  • Why is this important to the church?
  • What is the pastor's role?

I would like an hour with your church leaders to discuss biblical counseling. My hope is that you will leave the conversation with renewed hope and excitement about resources available to you to support your desire for spiritual and emotional health and maturity.

Training Biblical Counselors Globally

Identify those called and prepared to serve as biblical

Phase 1

We want to work with those who are already counseling or discipling others, and are part of a local church. We want work with church leaders, but do not typically train the lead pastor for various reasons to include taking too much of their time and focus away from pastoring the church.

Phase 2

Didactic Training

We will work out a schedule to meet you weekly online to go through your academic training. Currently our training can be provided by English and Nepali teachers. We soon hope to add Spanish and more. Please let us know what language is required.

Phase 3

Clinical Practice

We will travel to you or meet you in a neutral place to do in-person training. Sophia Fellowship will raise the funds for this travel for the instructors and for the students.

Phase 4

Follow up, continual education and mentorship

Sophia Fellowship will provide the counselor with continuous support, training, and mentorship if desired. The community that you become a part of will learn from you and share experiences with you. You can join regular online calls with seasoned counselors and teachers to share and ask questions.

Our approach to counseling is a biblical look at holistic health or Exchanged Life.
All people should understand their worth and purpose as a child of God.
Your true purpose can be realized by exchanging your false self, or self-centered life, for your true self, or Christ-centered life.
With this change in consciousness, we can live spiritually mature and healthy lives.
We can heal and grow from trauma and loss.
We can heal our wounded marriages and grow from mistakes.
Depression and anxiety can now be approached with a spirit unified with Christ.
